Yahoo OMG(Oh my god!)

i was taking a look at yahoo’s homepage and checking what’s new that i realized that at the bottom of their menu there is a new item added recently called OMG with a new notice next to it! I click on it and i say ‘Oh My God!’ :D , all we needed was a new source to get celebrity news from! as always in the first page you can find couple of news about Paris Hilton, Britney Spears, Lindsey Lohan, Angelina Jolie and others.

i liked the look since it was kinda new and Web 2.0 style! when you move your mouse to picture Boxes a button appears that depending to the story says ‘read more’, ‘view photos’ or ‘watch video’ and then it’ll take you to the full story!

Yahoo OMG

But is this good? really what’s the deal with us and celebrities obsession? does it really matter if “Britney lets it all hang out in Beverly hills”( one of OMG’s top headlines)? what is it that made us care so much about them! yeah it’s fun to know about the good looking people who you see in the big screen or on the stage a little bit more but haven’t we gone too far? CNN is giving the Iraq war’s news next to ‘Britney Spears shaves her head cause she’s crazy’ news! is Britney’s hair going down as important as that innocent Iraqi child going down in a suicide attack?I’m not saying that no one should ever go near celeb news and i also watch and read about these like everyone else.sometimes it’s fun to know about the people you like but these days celebrity news is everywhere(From CNN to Yahoo) whether you like it or not and people are getting obsessed with it.i think sometimes there should be a limit and we shouldn’t let ourselves to get obsessed with them! these days people care more about Paris Hilton changing her hair style than they do about people dying all over the world because of war or poverty and this is wrong!

You might say that i’m making this bigger than it is. we can do a little experiment using Google to see whether i’m right or wrong. search for the term Global Warming on Google, above the result on top right you’ll see it says that Google have found nearly 86,600,000 results about Global Warming. do the same with poverty and you’ll get 74,600,000. now do it with Celebrity and you’ll get 94,700,000. does this seem right to you?

Maybe the next celebrity technology is going to be launching of Google’s “Celeb Eearth” which you can track down you favorite celebrity live with satellites that cost millions of dollars!
